I would like to know how your school deals with extra duty assignments that come after the end of the normal duty day, for which there is no compensation. Duties include: game duties, after school clubs, after school dention and remediation and other duties as assigned.
On behalf of the BEA we would like to extend a heart felt welcome to all the staff at Buckingham County Schools. Summer just seemed to have flown by, the excutive staff has worked in anticipation of the upcoming year and look forward to a year of making the assoiation the best it has ever been. Increasing membership and member service are major goals for this year. Our first meeting will be August 30 4:00 pm High School auditorium.
On February 27, leaders from Buckingham County Education Association attended the Rally in Richmond, to rally for greater K-12 funding. As a result of our efforts, Governor McDonnell increased his budget for education by several hundred million dollars. We are proud to announce that the Buckingham Education Association has elected new leadership for the 2010-2011 school year. Michael Kimble, a teacher at the High School was elected President; Joyce Wilson will continue as Vice President; and Kim Steger has been elected as our new Treasurer. The Executive Committee has also appointed Denise Leatherwood to serve as the 2010-2011 Secretary for the Association.
